KINDERGARTEN

Curriculum

At International Christian School, we believe that children are uniquely created in God’s image and value the individuality of each student entrusted to our care. We use an integrated curricular approach to ensure that the whole child's developmental needs are cultivated and nourished.  Individualized attention and support are given to promote healthy physical, emotional and social growth.

Kindergarten is the foundational experience of a child’s educational journey. ICS provides rigorous academic and linguistic instruction in a play-based environment. Through stimulating, hands-on activities, children learn that education is a fun and engaging process where they explore and create. Children are encouraged to be independent in their own learning, solve problems, take risks, and display care and compassion towards others.

ICS Kindergarten education doesn’t end with academics. Spiritual development is central to a child’s educational experience. Our teachers foster a safe and loving environment where students witness the love of Jesus through words and actions. We marvel at God’s creation and approach learning with a Biblical worldview.

The kindergarten years are a transition period between home and elementary education. ICS teachers work in partnership with families to navigate the daily changes of young learners. Join us for a tour and learn more about our kindergarten program.

Staff

As a Christian school, ICS employs individuals who are passionate about children and exhibit a firm foundation in the Christian faith. ICS Kindergarten teachers are highly trained educators. All teachers are required to hold a minimum BA in Early Childhood Education. The student-teacher ratio is 9:1, with each class having a teacher and teaching assistant. Working closely with parents and families makes the ICS Kindergarten a warm, nurturing community.

Campus

The ICS Kindergarten is located at Kam Fung Court in Ma On Shan. Complemented by a private entrance, the campus is set up to be developmentally appropriate and include colorful environments that promote creativity and areas for an activity to encourage movement. Classrooms are filled with natural light, interiors are updated regularly to support active learning and current teaching units. We are fortunate to have dedicated art, cooking, and library spaces. An indoor play area consists of climbing equipment and a horizontal climbing wall to support the development of gross motor skills. A second large indoor space is used for group play, weekly chapel, and community events.

Volunteer Forms for Parents

In order to enhance our campus security and to ensure alignment with our accreditation guidelines, please fill out a new school-wide volunteer application process. Please note that effective immediately, all potential volunteers at ICS will be required to complete a volunteer application form and supply three character references to volunteer at our school. Once completed, you may turn these in to your child's administrative office (kindergarten, elementary office, or secondary office).
