Learning Support Teacher

Job Purpose

As a Learning Support Teacher for our Elementary School, you will be joining a team of seasoned and dynamic Christian professionals who seek Christ-centered academic rigor in our teaching and learning. Holding students to high standards, you will cultivate a positive learning environment that facilitates the achievement of the School’s Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs), informed by a biblical worldview.

The successful candidate will begin in August 2024.

What you will do

  • Identify students with learning differences, assess their strengths/weaknesses and learning style. 

  • Help students to cope with and overcome academic and behavioral issues that arise because of learning difficulties.

  • Create and promote a positive, nurturing attitude and classroom environment that supports learning with special needs and models biblical principles.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group instruction either in the regular classroom or in a learning support room and share duties with mainstream teachers.

  • Provide support and training to mainstream teachers in effective teaching approaches within the classroom and maintain proper documentation for support provided to students.

  • Develop and implement the school’s intervention programme according to the best instructional practices.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and department chairs in the on-going articulation and evaluation of curricular programs including curriculum planning and writing, determining scope and sequence priorities, effective teaching strategies, assessment practices, and related textbook adoptions.

  • Engage in additional tasks that are core to the school’s operation, such as curriculum management, service on committees, conducting training, and observations.

We are looking for someone with

  • Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, with a positive attitude, and a growth mindset.

  • A bachelor degree in Education or PGCE/PGDE or equivalent awarded by an accredited university.  A degree major or certification  in Special Education or related discipline with a strong academic background is required.

  • Candidates with strong subject and pedagogical knowledge in catering individual learning needs and styles. Experience in classroom teaching in an international school is preferred.

  • Expertise in identification, differentiation and strategies to address and accommodate mild to moderate learning needs.

  • Proven effective classroom management experience, that supports student development and models biblical principles.

  • A team player with a positive attitude and growth mindset, and the ability to interact well with faculty, students and parents in all aspects of school life.
