ICS Musicians Participate in ACSC Honor Band

1 minute read | March 14, 2019

From March 6-10, 18 talented and enthusiastic ICS high school musicians traveled to the Philippines to participate in the 2019 ACSC Honor Band hosted by Faith Academy. They joined six other international schools to rehearse and perform music under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Chet Jenkins, director of bands at Cedarville University (Ohio, USA). The students were challenged with difficult, university-level repertoire and rehearsed for 15 hours over the course of 3 days before performing a concert Saturday afternoon. In addition to rehearsing and performing, the students were able to experience some of Filipino culture and performed a mini-concert for a local village close to the school. After the mini-concert, the honor band students played games with the local kids and were able to see more of the village.
The ICS students formed new friendships and gained a greater appreciation for the Filipino culture and returned to Hong Kong full of renewed enthusiasm for music. Well done, ICS!
