Typhoon Season

Here’s what you need to know to stay safe and dry during typhoon season:

The Hong Kong Education Bureau (EdB) announces all school closures due to inclement weather on their website, radio, and local TV stations. Parents, guardians, and students should check EdB announcements periodically before making the trip to school during times of bad weather.

Students should not come to school if the EdB announces the closure or suspension of classes for 'whole day schools', which includes elementary, middle, and high school. If the EdB announces the closure or suspension of classes for Primary/Elementary Schools, there will be no school for students in Pre-Grades 1 through Grade 5. Students in Grade 6 through Grade 12 are required to attend school as usual. For kindergarten classes, make sure to follow EdB instructions for suspension of AM/PM classes.

The chart above serves as a general guideline only - please refer to our Weather Policy on the ICS website for a more detailed breakdown of what to do during tropical cyclones and other weather warning signals.
