School Health Officer

Job Purpose

You will be joining a community of Christian professionals who will welcome your self-driven and “can-do” attitude, expertise and contributions in providing professional, timely and appropriate nursing support to our school community. The primary work location will be on Shek Mun Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to the needs of students, faculty and staff who show signs of illness and injury. Prioritize and provide professional, appropriate and timely medical support including first aid care and medical treatment.  
  • Liaise with teachers and principals on students’ developmental or health issues that may require further clinical investigation.
  • Promote and assist in the control of communicable disease through preventative measures, early detection surveillance and reporting of contagious diseases.
  • Communicate with CHP regarding immunizations, contagious diseases and school guidelines.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of the School Health Office including hygiene, adequate storage of medication, and complete and accessible visitor’s record and accident reports.
  • Make arrangements to contact parents or health professionals for follow up actions (e.g. send home, hospitalization) if necessary.
  • Provide health education and anticipatory guidance to the school community. 
  • Arrange and provide first aid training to faculty and staff.


  • 5 years' nursing and healthcare experience, with at least 3 years specializing in pediatrics and adolescent health.
  • Diploma or above in Nursing. Enrolled in Hong Kong Nursing Board or overseas practitioners with a valid nursing licence.
  • Certified first-aid trainers with valid licence are highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform routine medical procedures and first aid treatment independently.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to make independent and timely nursing decisions including appropriate triage.
  • Solid understanding of government requirements on medical health and safety in school.
  • Be fully cognizant of the confidential nature of work and the need to work outside normal office hours as and when required.
