Senior Finance Officer

Job Description

The job holder is responsible to keep the school’s finance on track and efficiently manage the daily operation on the school’s billing and accounts receivable cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily billing activities in a timely and accurate manner.  Supervise daily bank activities and reconcile, compile and analyze account information.  Manage month end closing and year end closing.
  • Coordinate in annual budget preparation and budgetary control in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Deliver a high standard of reporting.  Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, analysis and forecasts.
  • Handle fees associated with new enrolment, re-enrolment and reservation, as well as entry deposit, debenture, transfer and refund, financial aids applications.  Monitor and follow up overdue accounts, aging accounts and other irregularities.  Assist in financial aid application process.
  • Review billing and account receivable process periodically with Admissions Office to enhance the effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Provide high standard of customer service on investigating and resolving the inquiries from different stakeholders.
  • Support annual audit exercises and communicate well with auditors.   Prepare audit schedules, working papers and perform stock taking exercise.
  • Assist in financial system development and process improvement.
  • Provide administrative support to Finance Committee.

Qualification & Experience

  • Degree/Higher Diploma holder in Accounting, Business Administration or related disciplines.
  • Qualified member/student member of HKICPA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in Accounting with solid practical experience in account receivable and income reconciliation.
  • Experience in handling full set of accounts is a definite advantage.
  • Experience with school setting, non-profit organization or CPA firm would be desirable.
  • Experience working with external auditors will be an advantage.

  • Attentive to accuracy and attention to details.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and in a professional manner.  High levels of integrity with strong sense of responsibility.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.  Good communication and interpersonal skill to facilitate coordination among teams and different type of working partners and explain complex financial ideas/information in simple ways. 
  • Strong computer literacy skills in MS Excel/VBA Macro.  Good knowledge of SAGE accounting system will be an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in financial system implementation would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
  • Proven problem solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • A positive “can do” approach in all aspects of the role.
  • Immediate available is highly preferred.
