Maternity Leave Substitute Teacher (High School Chinese)

Job Purpose

The incumbent will be assigned to teach Chinese to High School students to substitute our teacher who will be on maternity leave from January 2021 to June 2021.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans that embody the School’s learning principles with learner outcomes and instructional plans that meet diverse student learning needs.
  • Manage student behavior and classroom discipline procedures, maintain clear and consistent rules and guidelines for tasks and needs.  Provide feedback to the students.
  • Respond to student’s emotional and social needs, demonstrate love and care for all aspects of students’ development.
  • Develop ways to contribute to spiritual growth of students.
  • Communicate with parents and meet with them regularly regarding course expectations, students’ progress, behavior, etc.
  • Serve as a chaperone as assigned in school and after school activities.

Requirements

  • Native to near-native Mandarin speaking ability.  Demonstrated proficiency at the minimum 2B level as defined by the national proficiency test (Putonghua Proficiency Test).
  • Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor degree in any subjects with PGDE (Postgraduate Diploma of Education), or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • Preferred at least 2 years of experience teaching high school students Mandarin as a second language.
  • Experience in online teaching is highly preferred.
  • Commitment to working with students with a genuine love.  Passionate in nurturing students with patience care, understanding and empathy.  Have a positive and optimistic outlook and warm personality.
