1. Non-Discrimination Policy

ICS admits any qualified student who is willing to abide by the school's code of conduct, without discrimination on the basis of race, national and ethnic origin, religion, disability, or sex, to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school, provided that the school has the allocated resources to support any needs that the student may have.  ICS reserves the right to administer selective enrollment when deemed necessary, proper and in the best interest of the school.

2. Application Requirements

All applicants are required to submit an Application Form which is available for download from the website.  Local applicants should submit the applications at least one year before the year of entry and no earlier than 18 months.  Overseas applicants are encouraged to submit the applications before February of the year of entry if possible.  Late applications may be considered subject to space availability.  A sibling should submit application before the deadline of pre-registration of current students for the next school year.

The Application Form has to be completed and signed by one of the parents.  When a guardian is the person responsible to apply for the student, then an authorization letter indicating legal guardianship must be submitted with the application.

The following documents are required to be submitted with application:

  • Photocopy of applicant’s birth certificate
  • Photocopy of HKID card (if available)
  • Photocopy of passport and valid visas* for non-resident
  • Copies of school reports
    • Kindergarten – progress reports, in English, from past 2 years (if applicable)
    • Elementary – report cards, in English, from the past 2 years
    • Secondary – report cards, in English, from the past 3 years;
  • Transcripts of applicants applying for Grade 10-12
  • Secondary Applicant Questionnaire (for G6-G12 Applicants)
  • Student Reference Form (for Secondary School Students)

*Prior to admissions, all students must provide proof of Hong Kong residency in compliance with the regulations of the Education Bureau and Immigration Department for entry to school in Hong Kong.

3. Admissions Criteria

In selecting the applicant for admission, the Admissions Team reviews whether an applicant will meet the following criteria:

a. Age requirement:

  • Reception One: 3 years old before September 1 of year of entry
  • Reception Two: 4 years old before September 1 of year of entry
  • Pre-Grade One: 5 years old before September 1 of year of entry
  • Grades 1 to 12: date of birth after September 1 of year of entry will be reviewed on a case by case basis

b. Academic achievement and language proficiency:

Through admissions screening by the Admissions Team, an applicant will be measured to see if they meet the standard in the following areas:

  • Academic achievement at grade level
  • Language proficiency (if English is not the first language)
  • Problem solving skills
     
    The test result will be valid for one year.  No applicant will be offered a retest within a period of 6 months from the date of first testing.

c. Behavior Standard

Teachers’ Comments on behavior and effort will be reviewed to see if the applicant is a good match to ICS behavioral expectations and contributes positively to the school community.

d. Admissions Priority

Applicants meeting the above criteria will be prioritized on the Wait List according to one or more of the following categories:

  • Family of Founding Mission
  • Child of a Faculty Member
  • Corporate Debenture Applicant
  • Siblings at ICS
  • Overseas applicant transferring from American curriculum school

4. Exceptional Needs Policy and Disclosure of Prior History Policy

ICS is committed to provide the best possible resources and curriculum to our students.  Parents however should understand that the school has limited resources allocated to support students who may have exceptional needs.  It will be in the best interest of both the applicant and the school for parents to communicate the applicant's needs to the Admissions Office before applying for admission.  It is mandatory that all educational, psychological and medical reports are submitted together with the application forms.  Any applicant who has been suspended or dismissed by a previous school for disciplinary reasons or criminal misconduct will need to submit the related reports together with the applications.

5. Payment Policy

It is imperative for parents to understand the cost involved in sending your child to ICS.  Please review our current Fee Schedule before submission of the application.  The following fees are required to be submitted before a place is confirmed for an applicant:

  • Application Fee
  • Tuition Deposit
  • Debenture Payment (except for Kindergarten students)
