A warm welcome to the ICS Elementary School! “When I walk on campus, I get the feeling that I am with family.” ICS is a school known for its excellence in academics and arts, but most importantly, our love-based approach to living and learning. At ICS we endeavor to not only prepare our students to be successful academically, but also to mold and build Christian leaders that will “serve and transform the communities” they will one day live and work in. In the Elementary, children spend the majority of their time in their homeroom with their main classroom teacher. From P1 to Grade 5, the typical daily schedule includes Bible, Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies. In addition to the homeroom experience, all children also benefit from instructional time with specialist teachers for Chinese Language, Library, P.E., Computer, Music and Art. Teachers meet regularly during common planning periods to discuss the integration of curriculum and individual student needs, ensuring that there is a high standard across classes. Technology is integrated in to each homeroom, but students also spend time in computer labs with an instructor. Throughout the year, students are taken on field trips that offer interesting learning experiences and service opportunities within the local community. In addition, Elementary students may choose to enroll in a variety of after-school activities. From the moment one enters our doors, there's a great sense of “family” that resonates throughout the school. It's a quality that can only be achieved through the cooperation of supportive parents, dedicated teachers, amazing children, and the love of Jesus Christ.
