Instruction at ICS Elementary is designed and delivered with one mission in mind – to equip students with the knowledge, skills and Christian character they need to serve and transform their communities while preparing them for tertiary education. Instruction features many materials and approaches found in quality elementary schools in the United States and worldwide, applied with a distinctively Christian perspective. Integration of skills, technology and Biblical worldview occurs within and throughout the subject areas. ICS hires qualified Christian teachers who lovingly nurture each student; utilizing learning activities and educational best practices that promote the attainment of the ICS standards and benchmarks as well as the Expected Schoolwide Learning Results. ICS Elementary serves 450 students from P1 (equivalent to a full day Kindergarten in the United States) to Grade 5. There are four P1 classes with an average of 18 students per class and three classes per year in Grades 1-5 with an average of 25 students per class. Core curriculum includes Bible, Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science. In addition to the core curriculum taught in a self contained classroom, students also attend classes in Physical Education, Music, Art and Chinese Language. Student support services are provided for students with specific learning needs and exceptionalities and those of limited English language ability that meet the International Christian School admissions criteria. |
