Service includes the idea of doing something to aid another while learning means becoming able to do something you couldn’t do before, a process of acquiring new knowledge or skills or attitudes. What happens when we link these two words service and learning then we get a relatively new idea of experiential learning. In the case of service learning to process is reciprocal because the lives of both parties are improved and empowered through the experience. Thus we might define service learning as a process of learning through the experience of rendering service in the school or community and actively reflecting upon that experience It is the vision of the community service program to not only impact and change the lives of our own students through enabling them to be involved in community service but for that service to be meaningful, purposeful and empowering to those whom they serve. The focus of service is firstly within our local area within Hong Kong through Church Organizations, Schools, Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society but to then reach out to have an impact in mainland China and abroad. Community Service projects that we have been involved: Flag Days - Salvation Army and St. Barnabas' Society & Home Students helped non-government organizations (NGOs) to raise fund for children with autism and homeless people. Salvation Army on February 19, 2011
St. Barnabas' Society and Home on April 19, 2011
