ICS has been truly blessed by a committed School Board of Trustees which has been leading ICS since its foundation in 1992. Not only do Board Trustees contribute expertise to the management of the school, they also define the ICS mission, pray for the school, participate in school events and support fundraising activities. ICS would not be the school we are today without the love, guidance and leadership of our Board of Trustees. Brief History of the Board
Under Hong Kong law, the School Supervisor is ultimately responsible for the management of day to day operations. The first School Supervisor was Dr. Loren Van Tassel of the Free Methodist Mission and since then many have served in this role, most notably Richard Johnson who served on the Board and SMC for nine years. The present Supervisor, Dr. CC Wan, is also a Trustee. During the past four years the Board has held retreats, (several under the guidance of Dr. David Greenhalgh who served as a consultant to assist the Board,) to rethink its governance style and the future role of the Board. As a result, the Board has chosen to operate with a modified Carver Model of policy governance and has rewritten the legal incorporating documents of the school to reflect this approach. The Trustees are excited about the opportunities this will give them to be more visionary and to divest responsibilities for daily operations to the school administration. Board Trustees

In 1992 ICS was formed as a limited liability company with the goal of creating a Christian school using an American curriculum in an English medium of instruction. The first elected Chairman of the Board was Steve Wible, one of our founders and visionaries who saw the need for a school that primarily educates missionary children from a number of missions. After Steve Wible, David Aufrance of OMS served for nine years as chair and Keith Winslow (Free Methodist), more recently, served for three. The initial leaders managed details and were intimately involved with setting up the responsibilities of the School Management Committee.
